What can a mirror know?

What it can seeSynthetic demo

  • Affect · 91 days named
  • Sleep · 105 nights
  • Movement · 117 days
  • Heart · 105 days
  • Practice · 40 days
  • Device rhythm · 92 days
  • Calendar rhythm · 87 days
  • Voice reflections · 20 recordings
  • Written reflections · 11 reflections

Only what a fictional person added.

What it cannot know

  • why a night was difficult
  • whether a meeting mattered
  • what the silence meant
  • whether a pattern felt important
  • what you should do next
  • who you are

Plainly.

What it is

A mirror for self-awareness — and, if you want one, a private Twin of the traces you add.

More

The Mirror needs no account: you name your inner weather, responsive art reflects the word as metaphor, and a short arc — Storm, Stillness, Song — invites movement, quiet and noticing. A personal Reflective Twin holds only what you add: files you upload, moments you check in, voice reflections measured on your device, meaning anchors you name.

What it is not

Not therapy. Not a crisis service. Not an assessment. Not an authority.

More

It does not treat, diagnose or manage any condition and is not a substitute for professional care. It cannot respond to emergencies — if you may be in danger, contact your local emergency number. Nothing here scores, grades, measures or predicts anything about you, and it does not know what you are feeling or what your experience means.

The AI in it

Statistics find patterns. No remote language model is configured.

More

Resonance patterns are found by transparent statistics within one person’s own traces — not by a language model — and never claim that one thing causes another. Reflections are written on our server from the inputs you approve in the Privacy Aperture, and the Mirror’s Witness-Companion runs entirely in your browser with pre-reviewed reflections. Nothing is sent to an AI provider. Ground — the safety pathway — is never generated. It is fixed, reviewed text.

What is sensed

By default, nothing. The Mirror responds to your choices and the session clock.

More

An experimental Breath-trace can be switched on in Settings: it follows the loudness of sound near your microphone so the orb can respond. It does not measure breathing, and audio never leaves your browser. Voice reflections in the Data Studio are measured in your browser; only their length and three sound signals can enter a Twin. There are no live connections to wearables yet — only files you choose to upload.

What the evidence shows

Research informs the design. No study of this product has been done.

More

The design draws on research into mind-wandering, decentering, interoception, awe, meaning in life, slow breathing and meditation-related challenges. That research informs choices like movement before stillness, gentle optional pacing and always-available grounding. It does not establish that AI for Meaning provides any clinical or wellbeing benefit.

Designed against dependence

No streaks, notifications, badges or engagement targets.

More

No leaderboards, follower counts, behavioural analytics or advertising. The Gathering shows only a live, anonymous count of people sitting at the same time. Success, for this project, looks like needing it less.

Known limits

The safety check is narrow. Patterns can be coincidence. Readers can misread files.

More

The safety check on written words looks for a short list of explicit phrases; it can miss distress expressed in other ways. Patterns are associations within one life and can arise by chance even after correction. Some file readers are experimental and say so. Visual metaphors land differently for different people — choose another word, lower the motion, or stop. Mirror sessions kept locally live in one browser; clearing site data removes them.
